SWOT analysis samples: An overview

SWOT is an acronym for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. These four headings provide a framework for analysing a company, business proposition or any other idea.

Strengths and Weaknesses are internal SWOT factors. Opportunities and Threats are external SWOT factors. Strengths and Opportunities are positive factors, while Weaknesses and Threats are negative factors.

A SWOT analysis will not necessarily cover the entire business, just the factors that might influence its ability to introduce a new product or strategy.

SWOT analysis is the first stage of planning and helps the company to focus on key issues.
