Recycled cardboard boxes: Junk or cutting edge décor? Welcome to a retail space that uses (super cheap) ways to grab attention.
When Smithfield Menswear wanted to redesign their retail space, Burnt Toast Designs jumped at the chance to assist.
This retail clothing store’s décor was created using recycled cardboard boxes and tubes. Not only are these simple elements sustainable, striking and affordable, but they can easily be changed around to refresh the store at any time. The cardboard dogs were designed to tie in with the shop’s logo.
Peter Masters is the name behind the Burnt Toast brand and after his success with using 100% recycled materials for the interior of the Reuben Wood hair salon, he has now moved on to various other interior projects such as this one.
Masters spent time researching and testing a number of different materials before deciding that cardboard ticked all the right boxes for what he wanted to achieve, including environmental friendliness and affordability.
Peter proved that vast manufacturing resources and materials weren’t necessary to achieve an interesting retail design that was still functional.
