Australian cosmetic store Aesop is well versed in doing a lot with a little. Its latest store, opened in Manhattan,New York, faces the challenge of many New York retailers: space. And its solution is masterful.


The design of the store needed to create a way to make it feel and appear more spacious, and Australian-based architects March Studio were up for the challenge. The rib-cage like interior and repeated wood slats add visual depth to the store, while the open space ensures the products are clear and visible.


The natural wood and muted, warm colours are inviting and draw attention to the store’s wares, whose colours become a design element in themselves.
