First, you need the right educational training in the field of finance or, if you cannot afford to attend a college or university, you would need to apply for a learnership programme through BankSeta.
Once you have a qualification you would contact the Financial Service Board to register with them as a financial planner. Companies such as Sanlam and other large insurance companies offer industry-recognised qualification and training to become a Registered Financial Planner.
Unisa offers an online training course for the short term insurance industry too. All Universities offer BCom and accountancy degrees and collages offer a variety of courses as well.
Contact BankSeta and the FSB who can help you with learnerships and other advice with regard to training in the Financial Service Industry.
