I am the world’s worst procrastinator. How can I break this habit and stop wasting time?
First and foremost ask yourself why you’re putting off the task at hand? There’s usually a reason that you’re avoiding replying to emails or filing those receipts. Unfortunately, there is no place for a procrastinator in a successful business, which requires organisation, determination and concentration. Here are three tips to turn procrastination into productivity:
- Remind yourself that you are choosing to complete that task as it’s an essential component of being in business
- Reward yourself for completing onerous tasks with a short break (5 minutes) spent doing something enjoyable
- Keep your tasks for the day manageable by dividing your tasks up into those that are easy (and therefore more pleasant) to do and those that require more effort. Do a mix of both during the course of the day.
