I’m meeting with a financial planner for the first time. What should I expect?
When you meet with a financial planner, there are several steps that he or she should go through. It’s important that the financial planner explain upfront how payment will be incurred so that you know what to expect – and budget for.
Remember to go prepared with all of the documentation pertaining to your financial status, such as IRP5, retirement annuities, even a bank statement might prove useful. This will help you to answer all of the planner’s questions accurately, making it easier to assess where you are and where you need to be, financially.
The planner will then come up with recommendations and a plan that will track your progress. That progress will need to be monitored and adjusted, if required.
