Independent schools are required to be registered with the Department of Education. Contact the Department in your province for the application forms and requirements.
The Department looks at the following criteria when evaluating a new school:
- Financial stability
- Legal operation
- Health and safety
Some of the documentation that needs to be submitted with the registration application includes registration as a non-profit organisation, health certificate, principal’s qualification, owner profile, sample of educator’s contract, sample of parent contract, lease contract, floor plan and re-zoning certificate.
