Fortunately there are several associations focused on encouraging black entrepreneurs and the housing shortage is a well-documented concern in South Africa. The Gauteng Partnership Fund assists entrepreneurs wanting to build affordable housing. Qualifying criteria include:

  • candidates have to be 100% BEE
  • the business must be a registered legal entity
  • candidates must have a valid tax clearance certificate
  • shareholders and the company must have clear credit records

Another organisation that helps potential investors become property entrepreneurs is the TUHF Group of Companies.

Women needing assistance and/or information about opportunities within the construction industry can consult South African Women in Construction, a national association of women entrepreneurs.
