Your small or medium enterprise or corporate can be recognised by the National Science and Technology Forum (NSTF) if it is commercialising inventions flowing from scientific research done in South Africa.
To include more SMMEs for consideration, the NSTF Awards have an existing category for Research for Innovation. This category caters for Corporates, SMMEs and NGOs (Non-governmental organisations including non-profits, community based and public benefit organisations), with three places for winning individuals or teams in organisations, which recognises the significance of South African innovation.
These prestigious Awards bring publicity for the winners to literally millions of South Africans through partnerships with the media, such as Business Report (carried by Pretoria News, The Star, Cape Times and The Mercury) and Mail & Guardian, as well as radio interviews and talks to the public and youth as part of the NSTF Awards Share ‘n Dare Programme.
NSTF is a non-profit company promoting science, engineering and technology (SET) and innovation since 1995, and a stakeholder forum for all organisations, both public and private, who are involved in science and technology. (The majority of our members are actually in the private sector).
The NSTF Awards recognise excellence in SET and innovation since 1998 in various fields such as:
- scientific research
- technological innovation
- environmental sustainability/green economy
- technology transfer and education and training by NGOs
- capacity building both in science and engineering
- communication and outreach.
A special award for Crop Science and Food Security will be made in celebration of the 2016 International Year of Pulses as declared by the United Nations.
