The SLD is designed to assist managers to make the shift from management to leadership and takes leadership development to a new level through the use of multiple learning modes.
There is a strong focus on personal development and team leadership through the use of personal development plans and an action learning project that the students work on as a syndicate. To support both of these activities there is coaching provided.
These two activities run in parallel to the lectures on a range of traditional subjects as well as others more focused on leadership such as emotional intelligence, ethics and corporate governance and the economic environment of business. Psychometric assessment tests and group feedback are also used to assist the student in reflection which is a key component of personal growth.
The programme is run on a block-release basis over a period of six to ten months depending on the programme selected.
There are two options available: the part-time programme runs from a Thursday to a Saturday to limit time away from work and the full time option that is schedule a full week at a time.
