For an amazing four decades, the BMW 7 Series has been a global success, continually setting a new benchmark in automotive luxury. The sixth-generation iteration is no different. Not only is the new 7 Series the flagship in the impressive BMW range, it is also one of the most luxurious and technologically advanced vehicles on the road today.
The new BMW 7 Series embodies the contemporary yet also future-focused interpretation of exclusive driving pleasure in a luxury car. And it backs up this pioneering character with advanced and, in some cases, never before seen technology designed to help optimise driving dynamics and efficiency, safety, user-friendliness, long-distance comfort and personal well-being.
Now, as before, the handover between generations at the top end of the BMW model range is accompanied by the introduction of numerous innovations that reflect the outstanding development expertise of the world’s most successful manufacturer of premium cars.
1. Remote Control Parking Function
For example, the new BMW 7 Series is the world’s first series-produced car that owners will be able to manoeuvre in or out of forward-parking spaces or garages without anyone at the wheel.
The Remote Control Parking function allows the driver to conveniently hop out of the vehicle before parking it via remote control by moving it forward into, or reversing out of, a tight parking space or garage.
The driver activates the remote-controlled parking function from outside the vehicle via the BMW Display Key.
The entire parking procedure is monitored by Park Distance Control (PDC), Park Assist and the Surround View sensors. In order to use the remote-controlled parking function, the vehicle has to be straight and centred, facing the parking space or garage. During the parking procedure the driver can bring the vehicle to a controlled stop if necessary.
Once parked, the engine can be switched off via the key. And when it’s time to move on, the engine can also be restarted via the key. During remote-controlled pulling out of a parking space, the vehicle automatically reverses in a straight line.

2. BMW Display Key
The BMW Display Key also shows information about the vehicle’s status and allows selected functions to be controlled via the integrated touch display.
The time can be displayed, along with remaining fuel and current range, service notifications, as well as the current status of the central locking system, the windows and the glass roof. The BMW Display Key can be charged wirelessly, or via USB cable.
